CIRCLES—MICA prospectus

A self-mailing poster, and some sketches of other solutions, for MICA’s 2020 undergraduate prospectus materials featuring a bespoke, open-source kinetic typeface that can be maniuplated using a web-based composer.

The rear side of the poster features a “rambling colophon” leaving a message to potential students about the city of Baltimore (officially The Greatest City in America), peformativity in graphic design, and the pitfalls of open-source culture.

A number of interactive ideas were proposed, including an AR game of dice where you could roll for art school and studio program.

Another idea involved an augmented reality poster, where a “baby” belches student-submitted responses to the question “What is art school?”
